Nickerson’s Nichole Moore stood next to a mat late in the afternoon at McPherson High School on Feb. 9, 2019. Moore had just finished 5-0 and won the unofficial 106-pound state championship in Kansas girls’ wrestling. She was ranked eighth nationally. Moore talked with me and a couple reporters about her day and journey. Moore also won more than 30 matches against boys that winter. Wrestling changed her life.
